Q. I visited your website about Salvador Dali and was curious if you had his painting Hallucinagenic Bullfighter. I also was curious if you would be able to tell me the name of one of his other works. I have seen a really awesome picture of his where there are 5 or 6 females put together to make a skull head. If you could name that pic for me I would be grateful. Thanks.

A. Click this link to see Hallucinagenic Bullfighter, Lori.

Regarding that other picture, there's the original 'Female bodies as a skull' gouache by Dali (1947 I think). The photo version is 'Human skull consisting of seven naked women's bodies' by Philippe Halsman, 1951.

Q. Please tell me what age was Dali when he painted his fist painting.
> Ashley Spencer Cook

A. From what I could find out, Dali was aged six (in 1910) when he painted his 'first' painting, and it was a landscape. Apparently, at this stage in his life, Salvador wanted to be a cook...

Q. Hi, I am very interested in Dali's wonderful painting, Apparition of face and fruit bowl on a beach. If you have any knowledge of the symbols within this piece, it would help me a great deal. Thank you very much.

A. For those who don't know the picture, you can see it here. I couldn't find much regarding this particualr picture, but 'The Endless Enigma' which is extremely similar, (both were also painted in 1938), was inspired and contained items from the following sketches: Beach At Cape Creus with Seated Woman Seen from the Back Mending a Sail, and Boat. Philosopher Reclining. Face of the Great Cycopean Cretin. Greyhound. Mandolin, Fruit Dish with Pears, Two Figs on a Table. Mythological Beast (all 1938). Phew! Hope that was of some help...
